The First Adventure of Bobby Bootson

Part I

That morning Bobby Bootson had to get up early. He felt excited¹ about his first camping trip that day. At last, he was ten and could join the school camping team.

Bobby liked reading books and watching films about great explorers and their dangerous trips. He dreamed to become a famous traveller one day and discover a new land.

“Bobby, get up, dear!” said his granny. “A big breakfast is ready for our great explorer!” There were rolls, muffins², butter, orange juice, a cup of strong tea and, of course, porridge on the table. “Bobby, dear, where are you! Come on, hurry up then! You'll miss the trip. Your friends will go without you!”

But Bobby was already on his feet. He was running backwards and forwards around the room searching for his new backpack. In the evening before he went to bed, he had collected together all the things he needed for his trip. There was a warm pullover, two pairs of socks, hiking boots, a ball, his favourite cap, badminton rackets, a T-shirt, a book about adventures, a pencil box, a notebook, a camera, sunglasses, an umbrella, a sleeping bag and a tent.

“Oh, Granny, where is it...? Where is my backpack?” shouted Bobby.

“It is in the kitchen, I'm putting some snack in it for you! I've put cheese and some sweets. So you won't be hungry!”

“Oh, Granny, I'm going to be late!” screamed Bobby putting a muffin in his mouth. “See you tomorrow,” he said running out of the kitchen. The backpack hardly squeezed¹ through the door.
