Globalisation

The term “globalisation” is often used when we describe the world in the process of international integration. Modern technologies and the growth of multinational companies lead to developing a single economy and culture throughout our planet. Countries are becoming more and more dependent on each other. People often feel they live in a global village.

There are different opinions about this phenomenon and many of them are quite controversial. Anti-globalists are convinced that huge multinational corporations are becoming less accountable for their activity and as a result, the environment degrades in many areas of the world. Another anti-globalists' concern is that such activity negatively affects and even crushes cultures of small nations.

On the other hand, the supporters of globalisation express an opinion that international cooperation makes everyone richer. Globalists argue that it leads to better understanding between nations, improves human rights and helps solve conflicts.

Yes, some of my ideas were quite similar to the ones presented in the text. I understood that globalization connects the world and makes countries dependent on each other, which the text calls a "global village". However, I hadn't really thought about the negative aspects, like the anti-globalists' concerns about multinational corporations, environmental damage, and the impact on small cultures. I mostly thought about the positive sides, like cooperation and understanding between nations, which the text also mentions. So, the text gave me a more balanced view.
