Environmental activists have won the campaign against the fast food giant and protect animals from the dangers of the packaging carelessly discarded. The campaigning has been going on for five years. The activists wanted the ice cream cups designed to be changed to help prevent the hedgehogs from dying.

Last year the weather was very hot and the ground was too hot. There was not enough natural food and hedgehogs wanted to find some. Hedgehogs were attracted by the sweet smell of ice cream leftovers and crawled into the discarded cups where they became trapped and died of hunger or were injured. As a result, ten of them were taken to the wildlife center for treatment after getting into the container.

Finally, the restaurant decided to redesign their packaging. Now the restaurant designers have changed the lid of the cups and developed a new lid which will have a hole big enough to get ice cream out of it but too small for a hedgehog to crawl through and get stuck. Also, the restaurants and packaging companies will display anti-littering messages to encourage the customers to dispose their litter in a more responsible way. In addition, they organized daily patrols, they collect not only their own packaging but also any other kinds of litter that have been thrown away carelessly.
