Team sports: why should we play?

There's no doubt that most people are aware of the physical benefits of taking part in team sports. But can playing team sports offer us any other benefits?

The answer is, yes. To begin with, it's a fact that if you exercise, you have more energy and you feel better about yourself. As a member of a girls' basketball team, I've noticed that teenagers who play team sports are more active in general. What I mean is, they have more interests, they do more and they even study more!

I think another important benefit is that when you are in a team and work closely with other people, you learn to co-operate and you improve your social skills. Because you learn to work together with others rather than competing against them, as a member of a team, you tend to make more friends.

As far as I'm concerned, playing a team sport can definitely offer many benefits. But perhaps the best thing about it is the fact that it's a lot more fun than staying at home!
