One.

Helpdesk: Hello, helpdesk.

User: Oh, hi. I've got a problem with my computer. I can't get online.

Helpdesk: Okay. First of all, check the cable at the back of the computer. Is it connected?

User: Yes, it is.

Helpdesk: Now go to settings.

User: Okay. Settings. Okay, I'm there.

Helpdesk: Then click on network.

User: Click on network. Okay.

Helpdesk: Next, choose the network you want to join.

User: Okay. I'm choosing Office Network.

Helpdesk: Finally, enter your password.

User: I can't remember what it is. Oh, yes, I remember. It's password. P A S S W O R D.

Helpdesk: That isn't a very safe password.

User: But it's easy to remember. Oh, it's working now. I'm back online. Thanks for your help.

Helpdesk: You're welcome. Glad I could help.

Two.

Helpdesk: Good morning, IT helpdesk.

User: Oh, good morning. I wonder if you can help me. I can't find some important documents. They were in a folder on my desktop. I think I accidentally deleted them. Can I get them back, do you think?

Helpdesk: Have you emptied the recycle bin?

User: The recycle bin? No, the documents aren't in the recycle bin. I'm talking about documents on my computer.

Helpdesk: Yes, I realize that. I'm talking about the recycle bin on your computer. It's usually in the bottom right corner of the screen. Can you see it?

User: Oh, yes. Sorry. There it is.

Helpdesk: So, first of all, double click on it. Then find the documents you are looking for.

User: Yes, I can see them.

Helpdesk: Drag them onto the desktop. Finally, drag the documents back into the folder.

User: Oh, great. Thank you very much. I was really worried. It took me hours to write those documents.

Three.

Helpdesk: Good afternoon, Sally speaking. How can I help?

User: Oh, hi Sally. Ben here. I've got a problem with a memory stick. When I plug it into the computer, I can't see it. The computer doesn't recognize it.

Helpdesk: Okay. Is the memory stick in the computer?

User: Yes, it is.

Helpdesk: First, take out the memory stick.

User: Okay.

Helpdesk: Then plug it into a different USB port.

User: Hmm. No, I still can't see it on the screen.

Helpdesk: Have you got another memory stick there?

User: No, but I can borrow one. Anna, can I borrow your memory stick for a moment? Sure.

Helpdesk: Plug that in. See if the computer recognizes it.

User: Uh, yes, it does. I can see it.

Helpdesk: Right. Your memory stick isn't working for some reason. You can bring it to the helpdesk office and I can have a look at it if you like.

User: Thanks. You're in room two oh four, aren't you? Is ten thirty okay?

Helpdesk: Yes, fine.

User: Great. See you then.
