Two days later, a group of kids noisily and cheerfully went to the camp. I didn't go anywhere, and stayed at home.

My mum was at the summer pastures. So, it was just me and my grandmother in the village. While my grandmother was working, I was bored to death. Is there anything worse than being lonely? Probably not.

'What if I go to the zhailau?' I thought.

It was a brilliant idea. But where could I get a horse? Suddenly, a great idea came to me.

After dinner, I told my grandma:

'I'm going to the zhailau tonight'

'And where will you get a horse?' Grandma asked.

'Some of our boys have come from the zhailau and are coming back. I'll ride with them!

'Be careful!'my grandmother said seriously. 'Please, my dear grandson, don't do anything naughty this time. Don't touch anything that doesn't belong to you. Adults really love teaching children!

It was already dark when I went outside. The horses usually went to graze at night on the riverbank. In the darkness I almost ran into the red horse.

It didn't like that. After a long struggle, I managed to grab its mane. The horse gave a frightened snort and galloped away. In the end, I lost its mane and fell on the ground. The horse stopped, turned cheekily, and kicked me right on my right side with its hoof.

'Who's there? What's going on?' a voice asked from the darkness.

It was the lanky Sultan. He was three years older than me.

'Oh, it's you, Kara Kozha! What happened?'

'The horse kicked me!'

'No bones broken. Don't cry. You'll live to be 120. Go home, put some plantain leaves on it, and you'll be fine. Get up,' Sultan commanded, then pulled me up, and we walked a few steps in silence.

Then I asked:

'When did you come back from the zhailau?'

'Three days ago... I've been everywhere. I'm going back tomorrow.

'I wanted to go too, but I couldn't find a horse.

'Ha! That's no problem! We'll find one. Get ready in the morning and wait for me.
