Here is a part of Prince William's interview given to Sam Greenhill, a Hello Magazine journalist.

Reporter: Did you enjoy your year out before university?

Prince William: I loved my gap year. I would like to have another one.

Reporter: What was the most memorable part of it?

Prince William: I loved working on a farm in England. It was the best part of my year. I enjoyed the fact I was put in as a hand and was paid and was just another guy on the farm. I got my hands dirty and did all the chores and had to get up at four a.m. I managed to see a completely different lifestyle.

Reporter: What do you think of your three months in Africa?

Prince William: I loved Africa and learned a lot from it. I met some really respectable people.

Reporter: Why did you choose St. Andrews?

Prince William: I didn't want to go to an English university because I have lived there and wanted to get away to try something else. And I do love Scotland. There's plenty of space. I love its hills and mountains and I thought St. Andrews had a real community feel to it.

Reporter: Is history of all something you want to do after the degree?

Prince William: I'm much more interested in doing something with environment, but I'm not sure what yet.

Reporter: St. Andrews is very different from Eton. How easy will it be to make friends at the university?

Prince William: I do not choose my friends on the basis of where they are from or what they are. It's about their characters and whether we get on well. I just hope I can meet people I will get on with. I don't care about their backgrounds. And I would like to be an ordinary student.

Reporter: Are you excited about moving away from home and being able to take more control of your life?

Prince William: Having more independence is quite a big thing. Although I've always got policemen around, so I'm never completely independent. However, I'm looking forward to being able to manage my own time in a relaxed atmosphere.

Reporter: Are you worried about mass media? Do you think they may make your private life more difficult?

Prince William: The way the media treated me during my gap year was great. If that could continue, everyone would be happy, especially me. If it does get too curious, I will feel really uncomfortable.
