The family's interests.

I am Brenda Temple. I'm from Broxton, which is a small city in North of England.

My rather large family lives not far from the center at number twelve, High Street.

There are five of us: my parents, my elder brother Harold, my younger sister Daisy, and me.

We all have different interests and hobbies.

Harold is fond of music. He can play the guitar and the flute, and I can say he is a true professional. He plays the piano, but not very well. Last year, he joined our drama school and takes part in all our performances.

My younger sister Daisy is interested in music too. But she prefers folk music.

Daisy and I go in for sports. We swim in the swimming pool in spring, summer, autumn, and winter. Daisy swims better than me.

All the family often goes to the cinema and to the theater.

We like to watch TV shows at home.

I like drawing and painting. I often visit picture galleries and art exhibitions. I think I know a lot about different painters because I often read their biographies.

My parents are interested in history.

They often tell us interesting stories about what happened in the world many centuries ago.

Yesterday, my mom told me about ancient Egyptians. They lived about five thousand years ago and believed in afterlife.

They built high pyramids, houses for their dead pharaohs.

Egyptians put food, clothes, and furniture in the pyramids. Those people could prepare bodies for afterlife and kept them in pyramids as mummies.

There are a lot of pyramids near the Nile, the biggest river in Egypt.

The largest and most famous of them all is the Great Pyramid of Khufu. That pharaoh ruled Egypt long ago and was very rich.

He had a lot of gold and beautiful clothes. He liked good food too. Khufu began to build his pyramid as soon as he became king.

His people built the pyramid for thirty years. The work was very hard. Khufu spent all his gold to make his pyramid bigger and better than the other pyramids.

I think pyramids ask a lot of questions that people can't answer yet. Next week, my mom and I are going to the British Museum to look at the mummies and learn more about ancient Egyptians.
