Speaker 1: A trip? Where did you go?

Speaker 2: I went to Lake Baikal. The most ancient and the deepest freshwater lake on our planet.

Speaker 1: Why did you want to see it? Is it only because the lake is so big?

Speaker 2: Of course not. Lake Baikal is fantastically beautiful. It is situated among high hills and green mountains. I made lots of snapshots. If you want, I can show them to you someday.

Speaker 1: I'd love to see them. Thank you. Did you swim a lot?

Speaker 2: I wasn't brave enough. The water of the lake is very clean, but I can't call it warm.

Speaker 2: Though it's a cold lake, Baikal is a living museum of water plants and animals. About fifteen hundred kinds of them are animals that you can see only there and nowhere else in the world.

Speaker 1: I know about your interests in zoology, Robert. Is it only some kinds of fish that Lake Baikal is famous for?

Speaker 2: You may have heard about the sea animal called Nerpa. This animal is a kind of symbol of the lake. It looks very cute. One great question about the lake is how Nerpa came to live there. You see, the lake is hundreds of kilometers from any ocean.

Speaker 1: How interesting. Would you like to go to Siberia again?

Speaker 2: Next time I'm planning to go there in winter when there is no ice on the lake.
