1) Our planet earth is one of many planets in space and not the larg-est one. Nowadays, as we know, it's the only place where people can live. On our planet there is air that people can breathe, there is water they can drink. There are things to eat, to make clothes and to build houses from.

2) We can't live without plants and animals. They help us in many ways. They clean the water and air. They give us food. But they are all in danger. Living beings (people and animals) and living things (trees and flowers) need clean air to breathe, clean water to drink and good food to eat. But alas! Many places on the earth are becoming dangerous for life. For example, the air in big cities is not clean and fresh anymore. It is sometimes difficult to breathe there. People who live near rivers and lakes can't often drink water from them because it is not drinkable. Sometimes the water becomes so dirty that it's impossible to swim in it or use it for washing-up.

3) People do a lot of harm to nature. Wild animals can't live in plac-es where man lives. For example, sea animals — dolphins, crabs, and fish — can't live in dirty rivers, seas and lakes; some of them even die. People hunt and kill animals; they build cities and fac-tories in the places where forests used to grow. Do you think it's possible for us to live without birds and animals, without trees, other plants and grass? Certainly not. But it may happen in the near future if we don't protect them.

4) These days many scientists say the climate on the earth is chang-ing or even has changed. There are many facts to prove it. For example, the climate in Moscow has become milder. Winters are not so cold as they used to be, but at the same time it often snows in the south of Europe — in Greece or Italy.

5) The problem of the earth's ecology is getting more and more seri-ous with every year. Governments and different ecological organ-izations begin to understand that people are doing a lot of harm to our planet. They say we must all protect it. The world is our home and we want to see it clean and beautiful. At the same time we know that we take from the earth as much as we can. People have to think about ecological problems if they want to continue living on our planet and protect the earth and all things around us.
