Exercise eighty-one.

Listen to the text from Exercise seventy-nine and do the task from your textbook.

Keep yourself informed about environmental problems.

Two.

Try not to waste energy in your everyday life. It's strange to stand with a fridge open while you decide what to eat. Make your mind up before you open the door. The fridge warms up when the door is open and it takes extra energy to cool it again.

Three.

Stop and think before you throw anything away. It might be useful for someone else. After disasters, some people can't afford to buy new books, clothes and toys. They will be pleased to use yours.

Four.

Take as much rubbish as you can to local recycling centers. There are new technologies to recycle various kinds of rubbish.

Five.

If you have a choice, avoid buying packaged food. Nice packaging doesn't make the food better.

Six.

Don't waste paper. When you are writing, use both sides of the paper.

Seven.

While shopping, ask yourself if you really needed the thing you are going to buy. This will help you to avoid buying things you don't need.

Eight.

Walk or cycle whenever possible. Using a car, people pollute the environment with chemical waste.

Nine.

Never drop litter yourself and help to clean up your local environment.

Ten.

Take care of trees and other plants. Grow and plant them in your garden or street.

Eleven.

Try to reduce noise pollution. Listen to music through earphones. Other people may not want to hear it. They might like other music.

Twelve.

Put out food for wild animals in winter. Winters are quite severe sometimes and birds need more energy to survive. These are only some of the possible steps towards saving the earth. Certainly, it won't be easy to follow them. But if you manage to, you will contribute to making the earth cleaner and saving it for yourself and for future generations.
