The Ancient Egyptians used plants and minerals to decorate their eyes. They wanted to make their eyes look bigger and more like cat's eyes. Today we use eye shadow, mascara, eye liner and kohl pencils. And not just women try to make their eyes appear more attractive. Pop stars like David Bowie and Marilyn Manson are famous for their exotic eyes.

These days we can use crazy contact lenses to decorate our eyes. We can temporarily change the colour of our eyes from blue to green or from brown to violet. Or we can make our eyes dramatic with a pair of designer lenses.

Contact lens companies sell lenses that look like cat's eyes, demons, dragons, aliens and vampires. They have all-white lenses, all-black lenses and every colour in between.

If you want something really different, you can buy striped lenses, spotted lenses or checked lenses. Other lenses have spirals, stars, crosses and numbers. Or why not buy some lenses with butterflies, spiders, bats or flowers?

If you decide to try decorative contact lenses, visit a qualified optician for advice. Always buy lenses with a prescription and make sure you get the right size and type of lens for your eyes.
