Exercise two.

Listen to Cathy, Jessica and Brian's conversation, and answer the questions.

Jessica: It's great to see you again. I feel as if we never left school. Cathy, do you remember our class, our teachers?

Cathy: Certainly I do.

Cathy: I used to sit next to the window. Brian used to sit next to me and I often saw him cheating at maths. It made me terribly angry. Miss Morgan, our maths teacher was my favorite, and I hated Brian for doing that, doing her lessons.

Jessica: Miss Morgan? Did you really like her?

Cathy: I thought she was the best. And I dreamt of being a teacher myself. I wanted to stand up in front of the class. I wanted everybody to listen to me and I wanted to get that awful Brian out of the class.

Brian: Easy, easy. What's this about me and Miss Morgan? I didn't have anything against her. I liked her actually. But all those formulas were not for me. I wasn't able to remember so many of them. And I was sure I'd never need it. I was going to be a police officer, remember?

Jessica: Yes, you were always going on about police films, chasing criminals, fighting and so on.

Brian: Yes, I was crazy about it. But my current job is far from working as a policeman.

Jessica: Is it? What do you do?

Brian: I'm a dentist.

Jessica: Are you? I can't imagine you pulling teeth out of your patient's mouths.

Brian: And you? Have you realized your dream? Do you teach maths?

Cathy: Not really. I work with kids, but don't teach them maths. I'm a gymnastic coach at the sports center.

Jessica: It seems I'm the only one who realized my childhood dream.

Brian: Don't say anything, Jessica. Let us guess. You were crazy about animals. There were always cats and dogs in your flat. Once you brought a bird to school, its wing was broken and you said that you didn't want the bird to stay at home and feel lonely without you. So, are you a vet?

Jessica: Not exactly, but you've come very close to it. I wanted to become a vet at school, but I went a little further and now I'm a biologist. I study the animals of Antarctica.

Brian: Oh, wow.
