Speaker one: Marriage is not valued in today's society. People are getting married three, four, even five times. To some people, marriage isn't something sacred or important. It's just an excuse to spend lots of money. Marriage today means either a big expensive dress, a huge cake and two pretty rings, or a drunken couple that met in Las Vegas. Many people in my class say they would not get married because they believe that marriage simply ends in divorce, so why bother? I think it's sad that young people have this negative image of marriage.

Speaker two: From what we see in various television shows about the modern family, the value of marriage has definitely been broken down. Examples in the media and everyday society show that the sacred bond and the meaning of marriage have been lost. How many celebrity marriages have actually lasted? All around us, there seem to be no signs of the true meaning of marriage. Children are growing up in a society where marriage just doesn't mean as much as it used to.

Speaker three: The concept of marriage isn't taken seriously enough today. These days, people see marriage as a much more casual thing. Some people think it's unnecessary and that living together is just as good. Marriage is seen as being just a ring on a finger and a piece of paper. Weddings are also taking place in weird and unusual places. Weddings have lost their significance and are being regarded as just a fun day out. When people get married now, they aren't always thinking about the future, which I think is very important to do, because otherwise you'll regret it later on.
