Unit two, listening. Exercises two, three, and four.

And finally, a twenty-three-year-old man has set a new world record for reading aloud continuously for more than five days.

Deepak Sharma Bajgain, completed his reading marathon in the Nepalese capital, Kathmandu.

He read a series of different books for a grand total of one hundred and twenty-one hours. Breaking the previous world record by more than ten hours.

Eighty judges took turns to accompany Deepak while he was reading. To make sure that he read continuously and didn't stop.

The judges each did three-hour shifts throughout the five days and five nights.

Doctors and nurses from the local hospital were also on hand to monitor Deepak's medical condition.

Cardiologist, Dr. Pahadi, warned that marathon activities like these can pose serious mental and physical health risks due to the effects of sleeplessness and poor nutrition.

However, Deepak was able to complete the marathon successfully, with no apparent medical problems.

At least he knew what to expect this time. Since he had already completed a trial reading marathon three months previously.

Deepak's incredible feat has broken the previous world record. Which was set by the Englishman Adrian Hilton more than twenty years ago.

Adrian Hilton read the complete works of Shakespeare continuously for one hundred and ten hours and forty-six minutes.

It was the first time that one person had ever read all the parts of all Shakespeare's plays, and all his sonnets and poems without stopping.

Hilton completed that marathon event as part of the International Shakespeare Festival in nineteen eighty-seven. On the site of Shakespeare's original Globe Theatre in London.

Sadly for Adrian, his record has now been broken, although he remains the only person to have read the complete works of Shakespeare in one go.

Christina: Well, that's all for this evening. Now over to Sam for a summary of the weather.

Sam: Thanks, Christina. Well, you won't be reading outside this weekend, I'm afraid. We've got a band of heavy rain moving in from the west, and more bad news for the week ahead. It looks like
