Unit Nine.

Track Sixty-five.

One.

Hi, Sam, Rachel here.

Yeah, great. I had my first science lecture today.

Well, I thought it was going to be really hard, but it was fun.

Yes, the professor was brilliant. I actually understood everything he said.

Two.

Hi, Mary, it's me.

Yeah, fine, but you'll never believe what I heard today.

No, it's worse than that. Apparently, Tom Parker has disappeared with all the company's money.

How do I know? Well, Susan told me.

How did she know? She heard it from Jack, the boy from customer services.

No, you're not suggesting that he's making it up?

Three.

And they're off! Murray goes into the lead with Williams just behind him. And Fernandez is coming up on the outside. He's passing Williams. This is a very exciting start.

Four.

Hi, Tina, it's Sarah.

Yeah, fine, thanks.

But guess what? You know those boots you bought in China?

Yeah, the ones you were wearing at Ben's party, the gorgeous green ones.

Well, I don't know what's going on, but everybody at the club's wearing them now.

Yeah, amazing, isn't it?

Five.

Hello, Mandy here.

Oh, it's you.

Well, what do you expect? You said you'd phone me at seven o'clock last night. I stayed in until half past eight waiting.

That's always your excuse. Your work's always more important than I am.

Six.

Hi, Jack, Roger here.

Yes, everything's fine, thanks.

Yes, it's great. We opened last week.

Not bad. We had quite a lot of customers who just came in to look around. Well, they didn't buy much, but a lot of them said it was about time we had a good bookshop in the town, so that's encouraging. A millionaire? Well, I don't want to be too optimistic. We have to give it at least a year, I suppose.
