Interviewer: Welcome back listeners. We’ve been talking to the writer John Berry about his latest book, “The Perfect Murder.” Now we just have enough time for one more question from our listeners. Is that OK with you John?

John: Of course!

Interviewer: So we have an email from Jean, who’s a big fan of your books. She wants to know whether you’ve been reading anything recently yourself?

John: That’s an interesting question. Since I have finished writing my current novel, I have been reading “King Solomon’s Mines” by H. Rider Haggard. It’s an old book but it’s one of the best adventure novels, which is my favourite kind of book after crime fiction of course! It’s set deep in Africa and follows the adventurer Allan Quatermain as he tries to find the legendary mines of King Solomon.

The legend says that the mines contain amazing jewels and piles of gold! The adventure takes them across deserts and through jungles to a secret kingdom ruled by an evil old witch.

I would recommend this book to anyone, especially readers who love a fast-paced, exciting adventure story with a gripping plot and an unexpected ending. Like all the best books, when you start reading it, you won’t be able to put it down. The writer lived in Africa for a long time so he was familiar with the places he talks about and really brings them to life. I enjoy reading it because it’s very different to the books I write – although some of our characters are very similar, I think.
